This is a personal project of mine, being undertaken in my own time. To help foster and refine my skills in relation to game design and Unreal's blueprint system, I am working on re-creating  Rogue Squadron's game-play elements.

Process

  • Due to the lack of information regarding the mechanics of this game, and the rather cryptic nature of the Rogue Squadron II's development, much of what is being recreated is based solely on visual observation on my part. It has required observation  on how the game operates, which is a difficult process in and of itself. The old arcade style of the game means that many of the mechanics in regards to flight and fighting are esoteric. This has let to many hurdles to overcome.

  • Most of  models and sound effects can be found on the internet for free, so it mainly becomes an issue of integrating them into the project. 

  • As of now, basic flight mechanics and weapons mechanics have been completed, and further in depth development into individual spacecraft will commence soon.
